Gulfport Little Theatre is proud to present the classic Broadway musical Annie, opening November 3rd. The optimistic, family-
The story of "Little Orphan Annie" was adapted for the musical stage in the late 1970s from the comic strip that began in 1924 and went on to become one of the most successful musicals on Broadway at that time. A plucky orphan girl is on a mission to find her parents in 1930s New York City, after being abandoned years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the orphanage, Annie escapes and experiences adventure in The Big Apple, making friends with a billionaire, Franklin D. Roosevelt and a lovable dog, until finally finding her forever home. Featuring some of the most famous songs in musical theatre, including "Tomorrow" and "Hard Knock Life," this production is a bright and colorful affair that bursts with thrilling energy.
The show stars Bridey Walters and Cassidy Spann (double cast) in the title role of Annie, with Bruce Berry as Oliver Warbucks and Claire Banke as his assistant Grace Farrell. Haley Hirshfeld plays the ‘has been’ matron of the orphanage Miss Hannigan, with Jose Gutierrez del Arroyo as her conman brother Rooster and Caitie Gutierrez del Arroyo as the ditzy Lily St. Regis. David Reeves and Philip Dutton share the role of Bert Healy, with the Boylan Sisters played by Claire Jones, Kimberly Hess, and McKenzie Perry. With a multigenerational cast of over eighty performers from all over the Mississippi Coast, colorful sets and costumes, choreography that will have you dancing in the aisles, and a classic score, Annie is the show for the whole family to enjoy this fall!
The show is directed by Cal Walters, with musical direction by Cherie Cruso Ruff and choreography by Jordan Bell and Brennah Britt.
All performances are at the theatre located at 2600 13th Avenue in Gulfport behind Chris’ Beauty College on Pass Road. The show will run November 3 through 19 with curtain for Friday and Saturday performances at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm.
